Partial update of the German S3 Guideline Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders in Adults

1 AbstractA review of the recommendations in currently applicable version chapter “Sleep-related breathing disorders adults” guideline “Non-restorative sleep/sleep disorders” conducted by steering group identified a number and chapters requiring revision or updating light new scientific clinical evidence. These included selected on diagnosis (clinical examination, polysomnography, respiratory polygraphy, with reduced alternative systems) treatment (positional therapy, surgical procedures) sleep-related disorders, as well obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) dementia hypoventilation/sleep-related hypoxemia. were updated according to methodology an S3 guideline. The remaining chapters, other hand, retain their validity for time being.With regard apnea, examinations, polygraphy have been specified more precisely modified. A has supplemented systems: tonometry-based diagnostics apnea. Positional therapy positional OSA tonsillectomy uvulopalatopharyngoplasty are given higher level recommendation based randomized trials. Recommendations can no longer be made due lack evidence; hypoxemia greater precision.
